What homocysteine means
Homocysteine is an amino acid involved in methionine metabolism. Folate and B12 participate in its remethylation; B6 participates in another processing pathway.
Why a result needs context
An elevated result can have several explanations. It does not automatically identify MTHFR as the cause or prove that a particular supplement is needed.
Build your learning path
Read the folate and B12 guides, explore MTHFR, MTR and MTRR, then continue into the homocysteine course and Dr. Purser’s teaching.
