That afternoon sugar craving may be telling you more than you think. Here’s how methylation, glucose, cellular energy and your genetics may fit into the bigger picture. https://danpursermd.substack.com/p/mthfr-and-the-never-ending-sugar?utm_source=youtube
Dan Purser MD and Jackson Larkin discuss the connections they consider between sugar cravings, cellular energy, and methylation.
In this consultation review, Jackson sat down with longtime Purser Wellness patient Lois Schweigert to go over her latest intracellular micronutrient (CMA) test results. After years of dealing with fibromyalgia, pain, gut issues, and inconsistent energy, Lois has made remarkable progress. Her newest CMA shows ZERO deficiencies — her best results ever — and it perfectly matches how great she’s been feeling. We discuss: • Her consistent weight training and dramatically improved recovery (thanks to catalase!) • Key optimization tweaks: amino acids, omega-3s, chromium, inositol, and glutathione • Blood sugar stability • Sleep support and overnight recovery • How trauma & stress affect your nutrient levels • Why intracellular testing is so unique and powerful If you’re dealing with chronic symptoms, poor workout recovery, or just want to optimize your health, this conversation is packed with practical insights from real patient results. 👉 Ready to get your own CMA? MTHFR is one of the most studied genetic SNPs, with the two main variants being C677T and A1298C. These changes reduce the body’s ability to process folate and make energy, leaving people exhausted and deficient in key nutrients. Specialized folates, B12 forms, and glutathione can bypass the blockages, and products like MTHFR Daily were designed specifically to fill these nutrient gaps so patients can restore energy and thrive.
Genetic SNPs are tiny changes in your DNA that can drastically affect how well your enzymes and proteins work. For example, being homozygous for MTHFR C677T leaves that enzyme functioning at only about 30% efficiency, which can drain your energy and impair folate processing. Similarly, errors in SOD genes reduce your body’s ability to neutralize free radicals. While we can’t change your genes, we can work around them by identifying these weaknesses and filling the gaps with targeted nutrition and supplementation—helping your body function closer to its full potential.
Superoxide dismutase (SOD)—your body’s first line of defense against DNA-damaging free radicals. SOD neutralizes superoxide radicals at the source of cellular energy production. But as we age—or if we have genetic SNPs—our ability to make SOD drops. That’s why we created VARS SOD, with over 10,000 IU per dose (most products have less than 240 IU). It’s a game changer for anti-aging, DNA protection, and reducing inflammation at the root.
Tired, foggy, low hormones, and nothing helps? It’s probably not magic—it’s nutrient deficiency. Dr. Purser uses CMA with Redox testing to go deeper than your average doctor ever will. He sees severe lipoic acid, biotin, PQQ, and lithium deficiencies causing symptoms that mimic dementia, thyroid issues, or low testosterone. It’s not “manopause”—it’s vitaminopause. Find the root cause, don’t just chase prescriptions.
These patients of Dr. Purser share how using VARS Glutathione helps their energy, mental clarity, and well-being! Contact us at (801) 796-7667 or info@danpursermd.com for help. Check back often for the newest updates!

Best match puts all-term matches before partial matches and related reading. Matching long titles across sources are grouped when access is the same. Search covers published titles, descriptions, available article text, report overviews, and the full text of the nutrient, gene and learning-essential reference pages. Books, uploaded chapters and downloads-page reports are searchable through selected editorial guides and topic names; the original files and full book text are not published.
