Follow the connections
The report includes basic blood and urine tests alongside thyroid, reproductive, pituitary and adrenal-related measurements. Use the vocabulary here to find educational explanations and to discuss which tests address a specific question.
Panels are collections of different measurements
The report places basic tests and hormone tests together. A CBC concerns blood cells; a metabolic panel includes measurements related to chemistry and organ function; a urinalysis examines urine. Thyroid and reproductive-hormone tests answer different questions again. A larger panel is not automatically more informative. The useful first step is to know why each measurement is being requested and what an unexpected result would lead to next.
Reading with perspective
The original includes prolonged fasting, medication-holding instructions and preferred ranges. Those instructions are not reproduced here. Follow preparation instructions from your ordering clinician and laboratory; do not stop medicines based on an archive guide.
